New York County Defender Services (NYCDS) is a not-for-profit law firm which was founded in 1997 and has defended 1/4 of a million indigent people charged with crimes in Manhattan since then. We are currently contracted to defend 18,000 cases per year and our attorneys, who average 20 years experience, are assigned to represent clients from their arraignment through trial.
We have a team of trial assistants (who are also attorneys), social workers, immigration specialists, investigators, and clerical and support staff to assist in our mission to provide the best possible defense for every client.
